Mayor of the one percent

   Cecil Brewster

Mayor 1% is a great book by Haymarket books that chronicles the corrupt rule of Rahm Emanuel in Chicago. It gives a brief history of this political scumbag hack for the banks and outlines several ways that he personally influenced barack Obama and got him to change important policies once he became chief of staff. his book covers the end of public options in the health care plan to Emanuel's insistence that the big banks were not to be broken up. This should come as no surprise from a man who made millions in his short career as an investment banker when he happened to be lucky enough to have been part of a bank that got bough by a larger German bank.
Emanuel cashed in n his time in the Clinton years and was very influential with his lies about the benefits our country would receive with NAFTA. he also was on the board of Freddie Mac. The amount of time this foul-mouthed jerk served under presidents helps explain while there has been such increases in inequality in this country as men like Emmanuel sell out the value and people of this nation for personal interests and increase income in their own household. Emanuel has worked hard for the one percent and risen to the top because he is a dirty human being and this book shows many examples how men like him derail  progress and influence decision makers for their own selfish goals.
The book progresses from Emanuel's sudden departing from Obama's White House to running for mayor of Chicago after Richard M Daley decided not to run again after a doctor told him he had a fatal illness. Emanuel's war chest was already high from his congressional donations saved through the years and soon high contributions would be given to his campaign from ultra wealthy people. his book looks at some of the first issues the Rahm administration undertook after his easy unfortunate victory for mayor. He attacked powerful unions and forced them to work in fear of their middle class jobs being privatized by a vengeful mayoral administration out to destroy its enemies. he idiots closure and consolidation of mental health facilities smacks of classism and the way the rich have been waging against those less fortunate nd with mental problems that marks them for internal poverty. Cutting programs for people like this is often at the top of free-market big business politicians like Rahm Emanuel.  Rich people can easily afford the best mental health treatment for their family members money can buy. Emanuel is a mayor like Daley before him seemed more interested in providing services and conveniences for business people and tourists than channeling money into the daily needs of residents who make Chicago home. Rahm Emanuel and mayors like him and Bloomberg was in New York are mayors waging economic cleansing against people without a global business presense and the quicker we get rid of mayors and politicians for the 1% will reflect an improved daily life across America's elite cities for citizens and new immigrants who are not elites.
