Biore Makeup Remover for Eyes & Lips

I think I must be really late about this product, because I've seen so many other bloggers writing about this. But anyhow, I think the Biore Makeup Removers really deserve a space on every beauty blogger's blog!

Biore Makeup Remover for Eyes & Lips

Available: All major pharmacies and Fairprice.

Volume: 130 ml

Star Properties: Micro-cleansing formula removes eye and lip makeup quickly, as the top layer contains ingredients that soften and dissolve eye/lip makeup. Gentle on eyes and lashes, as the bottom layer contains hyaluronic acid. I've put the description on the box in the two photos that follow.

Ingredients: Personally, I am rather particular about what is in my makeup remover, because I have sensitive skin, and I can't use removers with mineral oil. That ingredient breaks me out, and feels impossible to wash away. So I do love the fact that Biore has a got a really short list of ingredients, as in the following photo, most of which look very light and fine for me.

I realize that removers with polyisobutene, isododecane, and butylene glycol, generally appear transparent, and feels really light, like water. And, I know that these are really effective.

Ingredients list. It helps that I see, "Made in Japan".

Instructions
One can always trust a Japan-made product to have clear instructions and pictorial representation to back it! I think it is good, because it teaches people who have never used a double layer makeup remover before, how to use it.

I understand the feeling of helplessness because my first bottle of makeup remover was one of these bi-phase ones with immiscible liquids, and I didn't know that I need to shake it. So it was pretty useless at first (somehow these just don't work if you don't mix them).

And then of course I came about the famous L'oreal and Maybelline bi-phase ones on other people's blogs, and I learned! (That's the power of the internet. =))

Instructions for use.

Packaging
It helps when a package is HOT PINK! haha, it's my favorite color for cosmetics/ skincare items. (Favourite color for clothes/bag/shoes is white.) The color of this was definitely something that attracted me and constitute part of the reason I bought.

I really like how the bottle fits well into my hands, and the dispenser cap opens easily because of a deep groove where you can place your thumb, yet it is really tight and secure should you need to bring this bottle for travel.

The dispensing hole is also small, so you will not over-pour.

Last but not least, I have a weak spot for fully transparent bottles. I just like seeing the color of my product and how much exactly there is left.

The bottle. And the look of it after shaking.

Using It
So as can be seen in the photo above, I shook it, and the result is a uniform hot pink that looks cloudy, because the two layers have momentarily mixed.

You do need to shake it again if you've spent too long wiping the makeup off your face, and you need a second round of it, or it will not be as effective. The thing about bi-phase is that the liquids are what scientists term as "immiscible", meaning to say, they will never mix/get together unless you use an external agent. One good example is water and cooking oil. They will only "mix" if you pour alcohol in, and the resulting "mixture" is actually called an emulsion. So yes, shake the Biore, turn it upside down, and right side up to get a good effective liquid!

And then I poured it onto a cotton pad, and wiped off my eye makeup, as seen below.

A con for bi-phase makeup removers is that you really do need to soak your cotton pad through, and wet the whole area, or it wouldn't be as effective. =(

After using.

Effectiveness
Like I said, I do find this product mad good, and as seen in photo above, I only need one cotton pad to really remove all my eye and lip makeup (I flip over the cotton pad for lips). And the second one, is used to make sure all my makeup is gone.

In fact, I've tried this all over my face, and it works just as well! haha.

Price
I do think this is quite a pinch, at about $16 since I know that bi-phase removers normally run down really fast, as I pour a lot to soak through my cotton pad. Compared to cleansing oils, a twenty-cent coin worth of oil is really enough for my entire face. So I don't mind paying $40 for Laneige cleansing oil that last forever, but hesitated buying this.

I only use this when I know my eye makeup is really hard to remove, like when I use strong mascaras and eyeliners. Otherwise, I save it, because my cleansing oil is good enough to remover 98% of the makeup I have.

I LOVE it: 5/5
I still give it full marks, because the effectiveness is really still worth the price, and I am very sure I will finish this. It is definitely great for people who do not/cannot use cleansing oils, and so have the habit of using eye and lip remover before using their full-face remover. (Personally, I find that most non-cleansing oil makeup remover just don't remove eye makeup nicely. In fact, olive oil-base removers are very bad at removing eye makeup too.)

But personally, for people like me who don't use eye and lip remover because I don't find the need for it, I think it is a teeny bit pricey, since it is really something I wouldn't buy if not for countless blog raves. haha. I think sometimes, the internet does get to me, and I admit, I will get tempted after reading other people's recommendations.
