It is official now, the unexpected has happened.
Alber Elbaz and H&M confirmed today their collaboration and H&M will launch this very special collection on November the 29 in selected shops all around the globe. Images from this collaboration will be available as of November the 2nd.
Even though Alber Elbaz from Lanvin has been quoted as saying that he'd never do a mass-market collection, he was too tickled at the thought of H&M going luxury: "This has been an exceptional exercise, where two companies at opposite poles can work together because we share the same philosophy of bringing joy and beauty to men and women around the world," "I have said in the past that I would never do a mass-market collection, but what intrigued me was the idea of H&M going luxury rather than Lanvin going public" he says.
As for H&M's creative adviser Margareta van den Bosch, she said: "We are thrilled about Lanvin's collection for H&M, it is such an exciting moment. Lanvin will bring to H&M a luxurious French tradition that is also modern and playful. It is very much a Lanvin collection, using their cut and tailoring, with lots of focus on form and details for both women and men. The launch in November is going to be full of wonderful surprises."
After working with Karl Largerfeld, Stella McCartney, Sonia Rykiel and even Jimmy Choo, now Lanvin is set to join the illustrious ranks of designers to create cut-price collections for H&M.
To be honest I am not an H&M person, and not to lie to you i have 3 tank tops from H&M i wear to the beach and a bracelet but come on, it took the brand a second to make me fall in love with them, it took them Alber Elbaz to make me change my mind. Lanvin is one great name and Elbaz is the designer. Since joining Lanvin in 2001, Alber Elbaz has transformed the Paris-based label, founded in 1889 by Jeanne Lanvin, into a fashion powerhouse. The talent behind some of the biggest trends of the past decade, Elbaz's signature ribbon, bows, pearls and raw edges are much imitated.
